Milky Way setting over Koornlandskloof

At an ambient temperature of 0°C the dark current of the EOS 350D was low enough to permit a single 32 min exposure. Scorpius is setting "upside down" on the right-hand side of the image; the brightest trail is Jupiter. On the left, partly hidden by a tree, are the trails of α and β Centauri. The indoor lighting of the farm house appears greatly exaggerated; in reality, it was hardly enough to affect my dark vision. |
